Why "Blackfly"?

Updated: Apr 21, 2020

I get asked pretty often, why did I choose Blackfly for my business name?

Well, we all know how blackflies in Maine are beyond annoying. They're something we can’t get away from and just have to deal with, because they are there whether we want them or not.

Most business owners did not go into business in order to do bookkeeping (unlike me) – for them, it’s just a necessary evil. What I do is handle this pesky stuff for business owners who have no time for bookkeeping, or don’t understand it or just plain want to avoid it.

Because, let’s face it, even though a business owner is perfectly capable of learning bookkeeping, many would rather be having a root canal, offered a choice. Plus, they want to focus their most precious resource - time - on doing the thing they do best.
